Using this website

Objectives

The purpose of this website is to help raise support and awareness of bowel cancer with the aim for men to grow beards during December and for women, and/or the follicly challenged, to use our iPhone app to beard themselves and post their pictures on Twitter and/or Instagram to help spread the word.

This website then picks up on these pictures which are publically available and simply displays the information in a different format to how Twitter and Instagram presents them.

Content inclusion

All media on this website uses public information available from the Twitter and Instagram API which has been hash tagged as #Decembeard and/or #BeardsforBowels or includes a mention to @Decembeard and/or @BeardsforBowels therefore you also agree to the Twitter terms of service and Instagram terms and conditions. Although this website uses public APIs, this website is not endorsed, certified or affiliated with Twitter or Instagram. If the APIs becomes inactive, unavailable or limited at any time, this can cause the website to perform incorrectly and you could on occasion see unexpected results.

Content exclusion

We reserve the right to remove content from this website without warning or reason if we feel it is unsuitable and offensive. We reserve the right to remove any content from this website at any time, acting in our absolute discretion.

If you wish for your specific image, images or Twitter and/or Instagram username to be excluded from this website, please securely sign into Twitter or Instagram here, safely authorise the API application and update your settings.

Monitoring content

We will monitor content included on this website from time to time. We do not accept responsibility for any content published on this website which has been delivered from the Twitter or Instagram public APIs.

We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. We only request, process and display media using the public facing Twitter and Instagram API which to our knowledge excludes private and protected user accounts.

What we collect

This website uses Google Analytics which gives insights to our website traffic and marketing effectiveness. This information is confidential and used for internal reporting only.

This website may contain self-promoted links, advertising banners and/or outbound links to user specific profiles and websites. Competitions

• The competitions consist of a user posting his or her photograph modelling a beard, whether it is fake, real, bushy, manscaped or creatively superimposed on the face of someone.
• If you are using our iPhone app which is for free in the iOS App Store, your entry consists of posting it to your Twitter and/or Instagram feed with the #Decembeard hashtag and mentioning @Decembeard so we get notified of your entry.
• Feel free to post your entry with your own personal message, but an entry with any other hashtag or mentioning any other Twitter or Instagram handle besides #Decembeard and @Decembeard will be invalid.
• Although @Decembeard is not officially affiliated with any other charity, we currently only fund raise for Bowel Cancer UK (@Bowel_Cancer_UK / @DecembeardUK).
• If you are using a device other than an iPhone, you can still enter the competition by hashtagging #Decembeard and mentioning @Decembeard on Twitter and/or Instagram or you can send your entries to info[@]decembeard.co. Your email address will only be used to contact you regarding our Decembeard campaign and not used or sold to any third parties. We will put your image on a Decembeard placeholder which mentions our website address and logo before re-posting from our social media accounts.
• You may enter as many times as you wish, however the number of times entered does not constitute to having a better chance of winning. It's advised to submit your favourite image as the entry.
• You agree that you own the copyright of the image you are posting and/or the permission of the person modelling in the image.
• You agree that we are able to re-post, favourite and retweet the image on Twitter, upload to our Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook and Pinterest feeds.
• The competition duration of collecting entries is between 1st - 7th December, 8th - 14th December, 15th - 21st December, 22nd - 28th December and 29th December 2014 - 4th January 2015.
• For users who have downloaded the iPhone app and already shared their #Decembeard pictures prior to 1st December, it's greatly appreciated however, we will require you to re-post those images again for it to constitute as an entry in accordance with these terms.
• The use of your image, retweet, favourite or mention does not act as a voting scheme. All entries will be overviewed fairly.
• The winner will be announced no later than 5pm on the following Monday of the previous weeks entries.
• The winner is chosen at the discretion of the judge involved at the time. The judge's decision is final. It will be announced on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, this website and the winner will be notified by email (if provided) or a Twitter/Instagram mention.
• Each week the prize will be different. There will be no cash or prize alternative for any reason.
• The prize will be sent via a courier at the judge's descretion. The competition is open to all countries.
• The terms and conditions may change without notice at any time. Please recheck this page for every entry you submit.
• This website, iPhone app and competition is to raise support and awareness of bowel cancer. The campaign is for entertainment purposes only to help raise awareness of the disease which affects millions of people all over the world. If you find anything we have done offensive, please do not use this website, iPhone app or enter the competition and please email us your concerns using the email address below.
• You have the right to withdraw, change or delete your entries that may be posted on social media websites at any time. Please email us using the email address below with your request.
